i would start out walking dave, its a good way to get into shape and also lose some pounds. You arnt going to go out walk 100 yards and weigh 10 pounds lighter but go as far as you can and do that until it starts to get easy then go further.. or start to jog and build up to running it... you will start to see a change
I walk 1 mile every single day
I started out about walking about half a mile for about a month.... so dont worrie when you dont make it as far as you wanted...

As with anything start of slow, Ill be honest here are my stats as of one year ago
410 weight 5'11 height age 27, My mother died of complications from her size one year ago, That woke me up, I started walking every day 1 mile (you can imagine how hard that was at that size) rain or shine I walked, I am still doing it, I am up to 4 miles a day now and have added weight training to my exercise three times a week.
I still have a long long way to go but I am into a habit now and I feel bad if I don't walk/run every single day
Current stats
290 weight age 28.
My diet consist of oat meal in the mourning, grilled chicked for lunch and dinner more grilled chicken, Fast food has worked for me El Pollo Loco is good (grilled chicken sandwich, or polo bowl no rice extra chicken)
I don't care how Heavy a person is all it takes is a commitment to stick to a routine and you can lose weight.
