While there may be fads and trick diets that offer quick weight loss, we may be looking in the wrong direction. There are foods that we can eat to not only give our bodies the resources it needs, but that also help us lose weight and keep the extra pounds off.

This idea of starving to try to take the pounds off is actually harmful for your body, and more often than not, this encourages the body to want to eat more, which brings the pounds back.

There are a few foods that are comparatively better for you than other food choices. Some of these foods include:

You can't get enough of fruits and vegetables. Not only are they low in calories, but our bodies can use the natural sugars and nutrients in more efficient ways than other junk food alternatives.
Fibre is great for keeping off weight and cleansing your system.
Protein foods have not only been linked to curb your appetite, but they also boost your metabolism to make you feel more active and energized.
Green tea is great for your immune system and stimulates the body to burn calories and work away at body fat.
Soups and broths may reduce hunger by creating a feeling of fullness throughout the day.
Dairy products such as yogurt is not only a great snack alternative, but it is being studied to see if it actually encourages weight loss.
