Diet Coke
Hey guys,
So i've been following what you guys have been saying about drinking regular coke - bad for you, the artificial sugars, dont take it while your working out...but what about diet coke? how does diet coke hinder my workout performance? im a huge coke zero or diet pepsi drinking, and more often then not have a coke while im working the night shift (which is 6 days a week!) anyways, i thought i would see what your guys opinions are, or what the statistical facts say.
thanks for the help,
-jamie.
well peronsally for me, if
well peronsally for me, if you're talking about working out, getting in shape and stuff, thats being healthy on one side of the scale, and eating healthy and eating right is the other side. why not meet in the middle?
obviously everyone knows coke is bad for you with sugars and stuff (yet people still drink it, funny how that works), but diet coke (which may not have any calories and barely any sugars) still contain loads of unhealthy perservatives and additives. so while drinking diet coke may not hinder your physical activities and the ability to gain muscle, you are still putting junk down your throat and into your system, and that kinda contradicts the whole point of working out and becoming "healthy"
plus, diet coke still contains just as much, if not more sodium than regular coke, and we all know what sodium does to you (retains water, which might affect your physical appearance, as it will be hard to shed those few pounds of excess water weight.)
of course im not gonna be hypocritical and say i NEVER drink coke or diet coke because well, you can't exactly find a better partner other than coke for a certain captain.
but when it comes down to it, (in my opinion) no, diet coke won't affect you in the gym, but hey, if you're eating healthy already(as ive seen you are doing in the other forums) why should you be eating or drinking any thing else? it's basically taking one step forward, 2 steps back

I do agree with alwan, you
I do agree with alwan, you should try and meet some where in the middle, but try to cut out as much as you can. If you have to have that diet coke then have it, but if you feel you can cut one or two out a week, then do it! Making healthy-er choices add up in the long run, but remember that diet coke is a "healthy-er" choice and not a healthy choice; most people dont realize this.
Here are some facts on diet coke that most people arent aware of:
"Diet Coke, regardless of how many calories it has, wreaks havoc on your fat loss efforts and will ultimately cause you to gain weight. There are two main reasons for the Diet Coke fallacy. First, the sweet taste from Diet Coke elicits an insulin spike, which blocks your ability to burn fat. Second, artificial sweeteners found in Diet Coke disrupt satiety, the feeling of being full. Combined, the actions of Diet Coke go against a healthy lifestyle. Understanding why ensures that we think twice before consuming it."
