Athletics in Football

I believe football players are some of the most versatile athletes in the world. Their combination of speed, power, agility are at a standard that is second to none. That being said their are definetly many shapes and sizes when it comes to a football players physique. There is such a broad range of positions on a football team that need a certain body type and athletic ability. For example an NFL Corner Back must be thee fastest guys on the field. His agility and footwork must be flawless, otherwise he's gonna get toast downfield for the big one. Average Corner Back Size ( 5'10" 180lbs ) Offensive Lineman on the otherhand can afford to have the buddha belly and sacrifice their speed for enormous size. Lineman at any level must have great footwork and technique to be great players but above all must have Samson like strength to protect the guys carrying the ball. Average Offensive Lineman Size ( 6'4" 310 )
Reason I post this discussion is...for those of you who are football fans or follow the sport. I want to ask you the question. What do you think is the most athletic position on the football field and why?
And moreover who do you think is the most athletic player in pro football i?
There are many Football oriented workouts out there but just like there are many different levels and such a broad range of athletes in the sport of football there are many different workouts to suit the needs of each individual player. I hope to post a few up here and let me know what you think.
In regards to what you said,
In regards to what you said, I totally agree.
I think the cornor back, linesmen, and running backs all need a specific program for their title on the field. That would be awesome if there was a guide up for each one. I'll put one up for running backs.
I assume you played football T-smid?
I like Nate Clements, not only does he have one of the biggest contracts in NFL history... but hes an incredible athlete and knows how to put on a show
Nate Clements is a stud...no
Nate Clements is a stud...no question about it, any team would die to have that guy play in their secondary. Ya gotta check out his website. www.lockdown22.com
I played ball at UBC for a couple years...it's a great sport. We worked out with level 10 fitness out of Vancouver. They created our programs and ran the offseason workouts.
My pick for most athletic would be New England's Adalius Thomas. He is so versatile and athletic...playing linebacker, d-line, safety. He can do it all.
Cool, I heard good things
Cool, I heard good things about Level 10 Fitness. Why dont' you play anymore? I stopped because I kept tearing my shoulder.
I have to agree Adalius Thomas is defiantly versatile that is for sure. I can only imagine what kind of program he would be on, probably crazy heavy lifting mixed with explosive plyometric exercises.
That website is awesome i'v seen it before. Me and the boys are playing some pick-up ball today, always a good time. Basically the only way i get my carido done!
I'm actually on the high
I'm actually on the high school football team right now, although I wish I could say that my position is the most athletic, I play half back, I have to give it up to the free safety.
That might be due to the fact that our team's defense is very difficult to run for the S's. The whole play seems to be centered around them, for the most part.
Think about it, the safety has to have the speed of a corner back or WR. The power of the MLB. And the smarts and eyes of QB.
I've never seen a position have to work that hard to simply keep the play running.
However that's just my opinion.
As for the best pro athlete in NFL today... I gotta give it up to Nate Clements as well. He's just amazing, between his speed, agility, and strength.
