Hello my names Lance I recently started going to the gym. after years of avoiding gym classes at school and after graduating. I'm 5'10 and 259 now. in the last week of hitting the gym I`ve had to confront reality that I`m the big fat weak guy. I`m very intimidated by the guys that are at the gym and a few of the women. I know I have the same rights to all the equipment as the other people there, but feel so weak when I see where the previous person had the weight set at. has anyone else felt like that when they started at the gym? I have no plan of quiting for losing weight will be my only chance of seeing my kids growing up and having a healthy father. I`m only 23 so being overweight will cause me a lot more problems compared to someone in there 30`s or 40`s.

Lance, great job for getting into the gym. Let me tell you man, don't let anyone intimidate you. The effort your putting in is what counts, not how big or small you are, how hard your pushing towards you goals. Trust me the people that go to the gym every day will notice your effort (if you keep it up) and encourage you to keep going. I've never seen another person look down at someone else in the gym. I've seen success from bigger guys loosing weight, & I've congratulated them on the success.
I would definitely recommend you get started on the gym & healthier eating habits asap! As it will almost surely lead to health problems when your older. If you need a program or any help, let me know I'm willing to help you out
